Young Farmers seem to have a talent for many things, and cooking is just one of them. 3 of our members went to the NFYFC Cookery Final Competition at Malvern Show. With 2 of the girls being under 18 this was their first ever National competition, and they did the club very proud, coming 29th out of 34 teams. It was none too shabby.
They had to produce 4 dishes to the theme of "Tomorrow's World". They chose to do their tomorrow's world as a multicultural one and selected dishes from all around the world to represent this. Their starter consisted of Chinese Money Bags, served on a bed of lettuce. Main course was a delightful Chicken Laksa, which had a lot of flavour (and was a tad burnt around the edges). They produced Naan Bread for the side dish, and this was followed by a "Naughty" Italian Chocolate and Hazelnut Cheesecake. Yummy! All of these dishes had to be prepared by the 3 members under an hour, on just 2 camping gas stoves. The competition was at a very high standard and enjoyed by all.
