What YFC is about
The original purpose of Young Farmers' Clubs (YFC) was to provide a way of young people socialising in the countryside. This still holds true, but YFC also now provides a way for young people to develop skills and much more. . .

Skills for life
There are a range of different skills in which each member can partake in achieving throughout YFC, from cullinary skills, flower arranging to things like shearing, public speaking and first aid. There are skills out there for everyone, for some ideas of the things you can do visit the Devon YFC websit (link on the right). And if there is something you want to gain a skill in that isn't suggested, then bring it up in a meeting and we'll try and organise something.
Sports
Within group and county there are a a range of sports competitions such as; pool, skittles, darts, tennis, basketball, hockey, rounders, netball, tug-of-war, dodgebal and a whole lot more. The competitions are available to a range of a age ranges, and they are a great way of getting to know new people. Some club events will also be sports based, depending on what the members of the club want to do.
Conservation
Conservation projects such as the Countryside Action Project, are aimed at improving the local areas to improve the environment or help the community in some way.
Charity
YFC clubs in Devon raise a lot of money for both local and national charities every year by putting on a range of events. Such events may include; dung sale, promise auction, disco, bingo night, carol singing and many other sponsorship fundraising all to go towards good causes.
Entertainments
Each year there is a county competition which will either take the form of a drama, panto or entertainments production. It gives all members a great oppotunity to test out their acting skills in front of an audience, as well as making props and scenery for the stage.
Carnival floats are also a fun club activity to get creative and put something entertaining on display.
Travel
Fancy travelling to a different place? Yes? Being a member of YFC means you will have an oppotunity to do so. Trips vary from Club & County exchanges to Cultural and Homestay tours. You will have a chance to travel abroad, partake in both national and county exchanges too.
